April 2-3 Laptops stolen

MANHATTAN -- Several laptop computers, a Playstation 3 and other electronic items were reported stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
this morning from residence hall rooms in Haymaker Hall on the Kansas State University campus. There was no evidence of forced entry.
"At least one of the rooms was occupied by the resident and items were stolen while the student slept," said Capt. Don Stubbings of the K-State police department. K-State police are encouraging students to lock their doors, whether their rooms are occupied or not.
Derek Jackson, associate director of administrative services and residence life in the department of housing and dining, said notices have been posted at all residence hall entrances encouraging students to lock their doors.
"Unfortunately, too often students are trusting and leave their doors unlocked," Jackson said. "This is a harsh reminder that it is important to take precautions to prevent theft."
