COLUMBUS, Ohio—A new report claaims that 20 percent of women in college will be raped during their college years—as another study claims universities are greatly under-reporting sexual assaults.

Sexual assaults on and around The Ohio State University campus are rising—more than tripling in the last few years.

According to OSU police, there were seven assaults in 2006, followed by 10 in 2007 and 25 in 2008, NBC 4 Mike Bowersock reported.

Those numbers don’t include sexual assaults in residence halls, which have decreased during the same time period.

“Most of our sexual assaults are, I don’t like to use the term date rape. I don’t believe there’s such a thing as date rape, but a sexual assault is a sexual assault,“ said Deputy Chief of Police Richard Morman, of The Ohio State University Police.

Burglaries and robberies on campus are also down, and students who spoke to NBC 4 said that overall, they feel safe on the OSU campus.

Police said the number they respond to would be higher and the department of justice said that one in five college women will be raped during their college years
